The service
Colon hydrotherapy
What it is, how a session works, and who it is not suitable for.
What it is
Colon hydrotherapy — also called a colonic — is a gentle rinse of the large intestine using warm, filtered water. It is offered here as a wellness and comfort service.
A session at Luam Center uses the Wood Gravitational System. Water flows in under gravity rather than pressure, at a rate the therapist controls by hand throughout. Unlike an enema, there is nothing to hold or retain — it is a steady, low-pressure flow in and out.
How a session works
You rest on a padded table, properly draped. A sterile, single-use speculum is gently inserted, and warm filtered water begins to flow at a low rate under Marie’s direct control. Water and waste leave through a closed evacuation line, so the session stays clean and contained.
Marie may apply light abdominal massage during the session. She stays with you throughout, and you can ask her to slow, pause, or stop at any moment. Most sessions take about 45 minutes from start to finish.
What people tell us
Clients most often describe feeling lighter and more comfortable afterward. Some notice it more after a second or third visit than the first.
These are things clients report, not medical outcomes, and they vary a great deal from person to person. Colon hydrotherapy is not a treatment for any medical condition, and nothing here should be read as a promise about how you will feel.
What this is not
We would rather be straight with you:
- It is not a medical procedure, and Marie is not a physician. Nothing that happens here is diagnosis or treatment.
- It is not a screening for anything. It cannot detect or rule out disease. If you have symptoms — bleeding, persistent pain, a change in your bowel habits — please see a doctor, and please do not book a session instead of that appointment.
- It is not a substitute for care you are already receiving, and it is not a replacement for a colonoscopy.
- It is not a weight-loss service.
- The benefits people describe are subjective and are not established by clinical evidence.
Who should not have a session
Some conditions make colon hydrotherapy inappropriate or unsafe. Please tell us before booking — and get written clearance from your doctor — if any of these apply:
- Pregnancy
- Any inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis
- Diverticulitis, or a history of it
- Rectal or gastrointestinal bleeding, fissures, fistulas, or severe hemorrhoids
- Recent bowel, rectal, or abdominal surgery
- Colon or rectal cancer, or a current investigation for it
- An abdominal hernia or aneurysm
- Serious heart, kidney, or liver disease; a recent heart attack; uncontrolled high blood pressure
- Severe anemia
- Any current abdominal pain you have not had looked at
This list is not exhaustive. If you are being treated for anything at all, or taking regular medication, talk to your doctor first. Marie may decline a session, or ask you to come back with clearance — that is a good sign, not an obstacle.
Possible effects
Most people are comfortable during and after a session. Some experience mild cramping, a feeling of fullness, or fatigue afterward, and it is normal for bowel habits to be a little irregular for a day or so.
Contact your doctor promptly if you have severe or lasting abdominal pain, bleeding, vomiting, dizziness, or a fever after a session.
Ready when you are
Sessions are by appointment only.
